Singalong: Monday
15th January
We will hold these fun singalongs at the British Legion Hall, Hungerford. Our next singalong is Monday 15th January 2024 10.30am - 12.00.
How it started
A group of friends who have all had first hand experience of the challenges that face people who have been diagnosed with dementia.
It was the BBC documentary, Our Dementia Choir, that inspired us to try to create an environment
where people could come to enjoy music, revive memories and rebuild confidence.
Dementia can be very lonely and scary and often where words fail singing succeeds.
Members of the family
are often the sole carer and they too need support and we hope they will come along to share stories
and socialise.
My mother lived with dementia for many years and the instant change in her demeanour was astounding
when she had the opportunity to listen to music, sing or dance! When she was distant and unable
to recognise a face or surroundings, music from her favourite songs instantly took her to a familiar place.
It was so moving.
